Columbia Gorge Overlook, Undated (not before 1936)
Two women stand at a viewpoint above the Columbia River Gorge beside a parked sedan, on the historic Columbia River Highway. The highway, opened in 1922, was promoted nationally as a tourism destination and was a recurring Photo-Art Studio subject. The car is a Lincoln-Zephyr. Its tall, full-height pointed prow identifies it as a 1936 or 1937 model — the 1938 restyle replaced that front with low twin grilles and flush headlamps. The Zephyr was introduced in November 1935, so **the photograph cannot have been made before 1936.** That is a floor, not a date. A 1936 car can be photographed years after it was sold, and nothing else in the frame narrows the range, so the entry is left undated rather than assigned a decade the negative does not support.
